Office Visits

When you come in for an office visit, please bring:

  • Current medical insurance card
  • A referral from your primary care physician (if required by your insurance carrier)
  • Your present glasses and contact lenses, if you wear them
  • Contact lens container or prescription indicating brand, power, diameter, and base curve (for prescribing replacement lenses)
  • List of current medications & dosage
  • Photo ID

During the visit your medical history is reviewed, your vision is checked, and your pupils may be dilated. Most people are able to drive home after dilation, but some patients have difficulty driving after dilation; if you are concerned, consider making other travel arrangements. Disposable dark glasses are available, as well as reversal drops (which take 1-2 hours to work). A complete examination takes approximately an hour.
